Future Cruise Credit (FCC) terms and conditions.

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, many guests have accepted FCCs in relation to canceled voyages. FCCs can be used any time until December 31, 2021 and can be redeemed against any new booking on a Cunard voyage on sale in that period. FCCs can be used on all fare types of Cunard cruise vacation, subject to availability at the time of booking. Where the cost of the new voyage is more than the FCC, guests can simply pay the difference between the value of the FCC and the deposit or balance payment (if within 120 days, or 30 days for voyages departing on or before October 1, 2021).

Guests may use their FCC for a second stateroom to bring friends or family with them or to upgrade their existing booking. Should guests wish to do this they should contact their Travel Advisor or Cunard, if they have booked direct.

All new bookings using FCCs will be subject to Cunard Booking Conditions, including our standard cancelation terms. Once an FCC has been applied to a new booking, in the event of a cancelation of a voyage by the guest, any refund will be given in FCC. If your voyage is canceled by Cunard due to Covid-19, you will be offered the same options as all other guests are offered at that time in respect of original monies paid.

Health and Safety Protocols

Cunard's new protocols.

All guests and crew will be required to follow enhanced health and well-being measures to protect everyone on board. These have been developed with guidance from global medical and public health experts and scientists and in close coordination with UK and US government agencies.

These protocols include enhanced sanitation measures, appropriate social distancing and the mandatory wearing of face masks in certain areas of the ship. All guests will need to comply with this face mask policy in order to travel. Crew will also undergo a strict testing and quarantine regime as well as regular testing during their time on board. These protocols are subject to change, as Cunard will continue to work with experts and with government bodies to ensure all practices evolve in line with the latest advice, with the primary focus always being to protect the health and well-being of crew and guests and the communities that are visited.

Although the exact measures may change as the guidance continues to evolve, you can have the confidence that we will have in place pre-booking and boarding health screening, the highest levels of cleanliness throughout all ships, as well as approved standards for the service of food and drink, entertainment and experiences on board and on shore.

For years, Cunard has had in place many of the protocols now considered advisable for other social gathering venues, such as hand-sanitizing stations and rigorous cleaning and disinfecting procedures. For years, they have also gone beyond those protocols by asking guests to complete a health declaration form and having a comprehensive medical facility on board each ship providing 24/7 medical care and treatment and this will, of course, continue across the fleet.

Working with Bureau Veritas

Bureau Veritas is a world-leading provider in marine and offshore testing, inspection and certification. To ensure the highest level of independent and specialist expertise on all health and hygiene standards, Bureau Veritas has partnered with the Cleveland Clinic, which is recognized as the leader in this field.

Cunard is working with Bureau Veritas to conduct a comprehensive review of our operations before we resume sailing. This will ensure we are fully compliant with the UK Government, UK Chamber of Shipping and other recognized and relevant standards, as required, to protect the health and well-being of crew, guests, and the communities we visit.

The program will include simulation exercises to audit all aspects in practice.

Guest and crew well-being

Cunard is committed to delivering the highest standards of health, safety and well-being for all guests, crew and the wider communities that are visited.

To achieve this:

  • Every area of the ship will be rigorously and regularly cleaned and disinfected
  • Provision of additional hand-sanitizing stations
  • Enhanced on board ventilation systems to provide improved filtration and increased fresh air on board
  • Adherence to approved guidance for every aspect of the vacation experience
  • Everyone on board will need to follow the latest guidance regarding the use of face-coverings and social distancing, which will be in place in all public areas, Cunard will initially be operating with a reduced occupancy on ships
  • Cunard has plans in place, tailored for each ship, to manage medical needs, including dedicated cabin capacity for isolation should this be required.

Vaccine policy

Departures from July 19 until October 1, 2021 (2021 Summer at Sea voyages for UK guests).

When Cunard first returns to sailing, they will be offering a series of UK voyages on board Queen Elizabeth (departures up to and including October 1, 2021). Given the advanced progress of the UK vaccination program, and strong expressed preference on the part of guests for this limited series of UK Summer at Sea voyages, these sailings will be for UK resident, Covid-19 vaccinated, guests only.

For these voyages the definition of “vaccinated” is a minimum of seven days following the second dose of the currently approved Covid-19 vaccines being administered, or 14 days following the recently approved single-dose Janssen Covid-19 vaccine being administered.

There is no age restriction on this series of UK Summer at Sea voyages, but all guests of all ages must meet the requirements of the Covid-19 vaccination policy.

NEW: Departures from October 13 until December 31, 2021.

Following ongoing guest feedback, Cunard has reviewed their vaccination and testing policy. For all cruises departing from October 13 to December 31, 2021 all guests 18 years old and over will be required to have completed their vaccination course a minimum of 14 days prior to sailing. All guests 17 years old and below will need to have completed their vaccination course a minimum 14 days prior to sailing or will require a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to travel. All guests will also require a negative Covid-19 test at the terminal. The PCR and Covid-19 test at the terminal will be provided on a complimentary basis. This vaccination and testing policy will be reviewed on a regular basis as the global situation continues to evolve.

At the time of travel, some ports of call may stipulate specific vaccine or testing policies for guests going ashore that differ from this policy.

REMINDER: Proof of your vaccination status.

Guests will be required to show proof of their vaccination status at the terminal prior to boarding. This can be either in digital or printed format and must be an official certificate of vaccine status issued by their local health authority (e.g. NHS England). We are advising guests to visit their relevant NHS or local health authority website for full details of how to obtain an official record of their vaccine status in advance of their vacation (please note that some authorities require up to 10 days to process applications to receive postal certificates). Guests in England and Wales can download the NHS app, register with their NHS number and photo ID and gain access to 'share your Covid-19 status' - this creates a unique QR code and certificate which proves their vaccine record. Please note that the record card that is given out at the time of vaccination will not be accepted as proof of vaccination status.

Unfortunately, failure to provide proof of vaccination at the terminal will result in denial of boarding at your client's own expense.

Pre-existing medical conditions

All voyages.

It is understood that those with certain pre-existing medical requirements or of a certain age may experience more severe symptoms should they contract Covid-19 (coronavirus). It is strongly recommended that you review the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance prior to making travel arrangements. This can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-with-medical-conditions.html.

If you have any existing medical requirements, it is advised that you to discuss your travel plans with your doctor.

All our ships have medical centers on board staffed by experienced doctors and nurses available 24/7, to help support your health needs.

We are following all latest guidance to evolve our enhanced protocols to protect the health and wellbeing of guests, crew and the communities we visit once we begin sailing again. When we return to sailing, we unfortunately, will not be able to accept guests who have the following medical requirements:

  • Supplementary oxygen (including via oxygen concentrator)
  • Mechanical ventilatory support (except for overnight CPAP for sleep apnea)
  • Dialysis
  • Within the 14 days prior to the cruise:
    • Have been unwell with confirmed or suspected Covid-19.
    • Have been in close contact with someone with confirmed or suspected Covid-19.
    • Have been advised to self-isolate under a government Test and trace system.

Cunard apologizes to have to make this change, but they need to follow new industry procedures for the protection of everyone on board. Any guests impacted by the requirements for supplementary oxygen, mechanical ventilatory support or dialysis will be given a full refund of monies paid to date for their bookings.
