Saint Vincent is a volcanic island in the Caribbean, part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is located in the Caribbean Sea, between Saint Lucia and the Grenadines. It gained independence as late as 1979. Kingstown is the chief port of the island. It was also a filming location for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. St. Vincent offers activities such as dolphin- or whale-watching, hiking nature trails or a volcano and exploration of underwater gardens. Visit the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary or enjoy a day of diving. St. Vincent also hosts various and inspiring cathedrals, botanical gardens and Fort Charlotte, now a museum dedicated to the history of the Black Caribs.
